A monthly data report aggregating 5,459 animal hospitals across South Korea from public data. Every figure is a snapshot as of 2026-08-01 and is refreshed each time the dataset is synced.

1. Animal-hospital density by region (facilities per district)

The 5,459 animal hospitals in South Korea are spread across 246 districts (sigungu), an average of 22.2 per district.

Facilities per district are highest in Jeju-do at 57.5, and lowest in Sejong at 2.1.

2. Night/emergency hospitals (name-based) and regional variance

Animal hospitals whose registered name contains 24h, night, or emergency terms number 190 nationwide — 3.5% of all facilities.

The night-labeled share is highest in Incheon at 6.6%, while Sejong has no night-labeled facility.

3. Founding-year distribution — opening trend

Of the 5,459 hospitals with a known founding year, 2,459 registered in the last 10 years (2016–2025) — 45.0%.

The 2010s account for the most registrations at 1,960 (35.9%), while the 2020s, still in progress, already reach 1,660 (30.4%).

4. Missing phone numbers (the information-gap story)

Animal hospitals with no phone number in the public data number 2,428 nationwide — 44.5% of all facilities.

The missing-phone rate is highest in Chungcheongnam-do at 68.5% and lowest in Seoul at 26.7%; it tends to be larger outside the capital region.

Facilities without coordinates (lat/lng) reach 3.9% nationwide.
